Biography

Julie A. Fry earned her B.A. in Biology from Rice University in 1989.  She obtained her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Texas Christian University in 2011, under the supervision of Anne Richards and Robert H. Neilson, after teaching chemistry and biology at the secondary level for over twenty years.  Her research centered on the synthesis and crystallographic study of novel transition-metal coordination polymers.  Julie joined the faculty of TCU in 2009 as an Instructor.  She currently teaches General Chemistry I and II, Quantitative Analysis Lab, and Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, and has also taught Senior Seminar, Advanced Inorganic Lab, and Biochemistry.  She is a co-sponsor of the ACS-affiliate TCU Chemistry Club, and a mentor in the Compass 101 program.

Research Interests

  • X-ray crystallography of transition-metal coordination polymers
  • Development, refinement, and fundamental chemistry of inorganic teaching demonstrations and laboratory exercises
